Bank Asia's EPS rises 3.57%

Bank Asia Limited's consolidated earnings per share (EPS) increased by 3.57% in 2020.

The bank disclosed the figure after the meeting of its board of directors on 18 March.

As of 31 December, 2020, the private sector bank has a consolidated EPS of Tk1.74 and a 10% cash dividend for shareholders.

In 2019, Bank Asia's profit was Tk196.08 crore. The consolidated EPS was Tk1.68 and the bank paid 10% cash dividend to the shareholders.

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the bank will be held on 29 April at the convention hall of Bank Asia Tower in Kawran Bazar.

According to Bank Asia, one can participate in the AGM through digital platform, and the company will inform the contact link in due time.

The record date for the shareholder election to receive the company's dividend has been set for 8 April.

According to unaudited financial statements, Bank Asia's consolidated profit for nine months (January-September) was Tk229.24 crore. The consolidated EPS was Tk1.97. However, at the end of 2020, this EPS has decreased to Tk1.74.

In the first nine months of 2019, the bank's profit was Tk226.52 crore and consolidated EPS was Tk1.94.

Bank Asia was listed in the stock exchange in 2004. The company is currently in the 'A' category. As of February this year, the sponsors and directors owned 51.33% of the company's total shares.

Institutional investors hold 34.07% shares while foreign investors hold 0.22% and general investors 14.38%.
