Swiss ambassador praises Bangladesh's garment sector in sustainable development

Reto Renggli, ambassador of Switzerland to Bangladesh, expressed his satisfaction, saying he was impressed by the ready-made garment (RMG) production he witnessed in a modern factory in Bangladesh.
After visiting a US-GBS certified green factory named 4A Yarn Dyeing Limited in Baipail, Savar which mainly produces high-end outerwear and is a sister concern of Team Group, he told journalists on Thursday (25 September), "It's a very modern factory. I was impressed by what I saw, and of course also because this factory is producing for brands in Switzerland."
He also expressed his satisfaction with the company's sustainability plans, an area EU countries have emphasised in recent years.
"I was very much impressed by the sustainability goals the company wants to introduce, and I think that's an excellent example of how you can combine business success with sustainable development," he added.
At various stages of production in this eco-friendly factory, AutoCAD – a computer-aided design tool – and an AI-based smart solution called 'Nidle' are being used to measure productivity.
Through the 'Nidle' system, factories can track, optimise, and digitise their operations on a real-time dashboard from any location, enhancing efficiency and quality while reducing production waste.
Abdullah Hil Nakib, deputy managing director of Team Group, urged that the good practices of Bangladeshi factories be highlighted to Swiss customers.
He told journalists, "They could never have imagined that a factory in Bangladesh could reach this standard. If he presents this to his country's customers, the industry as a whole will benefit."
"We told him, just share what you have seen here. Speak about the reality you witnessed; there is no need to add anything extra. He said he would do as much as possible in that market," he added.
The factory, which employs over 5,000 workers, exports goods worth more than $70 million annually, with hopes of surpassing $100 million in the near future. Team Group currently exports to over 20 renowned global brands.
