DOM-INNO’s rejoinder and our reply
DOM-INNO Properties Limited has sent a rejoinder to the report titled "DOM-INNO effects: Home buyers trapped, projects abandoned," published by The Business Standard on 14 September.
In the rejoinder, sent by the company's legal adviser Md Khalilur Rahman (Khalil), it was claimed that the published report contained inaccuracies.
The company also disputed the claim that Managing Director Abdus Salam had left the country. Besides, the rejoinder stated that while the report quoted a company official named Faruk, no employee by that name worked at DOM-INNO.
Our response
The report was prepared based on verified evidence, case documents, and interviews with victims and officials of the Anti-Corruption Commission.
The information regarding Abdus Salam's departure abroad was directly quoted from a statement given by Omar Faruk, who identified himself as the company's assistant manager.
On 31 August at 6:08 pm, the reporter spoke with Faruk over the phone. The phone call recording is in TBS's possession. Faruk's number was provided when called to a number available on the company's website.
In the two-minute and 18-second recorded conversation, Faruk stated that Abdus Salam had gone abroad.
When asked to confirm his identity, he gave the name "Omar Faruk" and identified himself as the company's "assistant manager".
However, the rejoinder does not address the report's findings regarding lawsuits, corruption probes, or allegations of defrauding apartment buyers and landowners. It focuses solely on Abdus Salam's alleged departure and Faruk's identity.
Therefore, we stand by the findings and conclusions of our report.
