Uttara University hosts a seminar on relationship first aid for female students

Uttara University successfully organised a 'Relationship First Aid for Female Students' seminar on Wednesday, 14th May 2025, at the university's Multipurpose Hall.
The Mental Health Unit and the Office of Student Affairs jointly hosted the event. It aimed to raise awareness about healthy relationships, empower female students, and build confidence in addressing and responding to harassment for a safer campus environment.
The seminar concluded with a heartfelt speech by Professor Dr Eaysmin Ara Lekha, Honourable Vice Chancellor of Uttara University. She emphasised the importance of mental well-being, emotional resilience, and institutional support for female students. Her encouraging words motivated all participants and organisers.
The seminar commenced with an inauguration by Professor Dr. Gour Gobinda Goswami, the Honourable Pro-Vice Chancellor of Uttara University. This was followed by welcome speeches from key university officials, including Dr Shah Ahmed, Director of the Office of Student Affairs; Mohammad Ali, Controller of Examinations; Kazi Mahiuddin, Registrar; and Professor Haspia Bashirullah, Treasurer of Uttara University.
The technical sessions began with "Understanding Relationships," conducted by Md Abu Zahid Hasan, UU's Psychological Counsellor. This was followed by "Explanation of Neuropsychological Differences in Male–Female Relationships," presented by Afshana Najnin Jicia, Assistant Counselling Psychologist. Jayasri Samaddar, associate professor of law, delivered the third session, "Legal Advice and Institutional Support. " The final session, "Instant Crisis Intervention and UU Mental Health Support," was conducted by Ms Nurjahan Islam Suchi, Assistant Counselling Psychologist.
