Uttara University celebrates Baishakhi Festival 1432

Uttara University observed Baishakhi Parbon 1432 on 24 April with festivity and joy, immersing the campus in the vibrant spirit of Bengali tradition. Organised by the Office of Student Affairs, the day-long festival featured cultural performances, traditional food, stalls, and decorative elements echoing rural Bengal.
The celebration took place in front of the university's Annex Building on the sports ground. Students, faculty members, and administrative officials joined the festival with enthusiasm and pride.
Professor Dr Eaysmin Ara Lekha, vice-chancellor of Uttara University, inaugurated the event, while Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Gour Gobinda Goswami attended as special guest. The entire campus exuded the colours and sounds of a traditional Baishakhi fair.
Students set up stalls offering Baishakhi delicacies such as monda, batasha, muri, chira, and moya, along with handcrafted items. Traditional attractions like nagordola and bioscope added a nostalgic charm. The entrance resembled a rural gateway, while painted murals along the campus walls captured the essence of Bengali life.
The festivities began with a flash mob and continued with dance, music, recitation, and drama performances by students.
Vice-Chancellor Dr Eaysmin Ara Lekha remarked that the Baishakhi celebration was not merely a festival but a heartfelt reconnection with the roots of Bengali culture and history. Organisers shared that the event symbolised unity, creativity, and heritage.
A special highlight of the day was a live performance by the band "Akash Gayen." The event was attended by the university treasurer, deans, directors, departmental chairpersons, registrar, controller of examinations, proctor, faculty members, students, staff, journalists, and representatives from various student clubs.
