UNYSAB celebrates 17th Eid with street children

Eid is a festival of joy, family, new clothes, delicious food, and heartfelt moments, but for thousands of children living on the streets of Bangladesh, this happiness often remains out of reach.
For 17 years, the United Nations Youth and Students Association of Bangladesh (UNYSAB) has tried to change that reality through one of its most heartfelt signature initiatives, Eid for Street Children (EFSC). Eid for Street Children (EFSC) is a sincere initiative by UNYSAB that spreads the joy of Eid to underprivileged children by providing them with new clothes, food, and a day filled with activities. It promotes inclusivity, community engagement, and compassion, ensuring no child is excluded from the celebrations. EFSC fosters a sense of belonging and joy through this event, making Eid a special occasion for every child. This year, too, UNYSAB proudly hosted EFSC 2025 for the 17th time, making Eid memorable for children who deserve the same love, attention, and celebration as anyone else.
UNYSAB is Bangladesh's largest youth-led, voluntary organisation, empowering young people through knowledge, volunteerism, and cultural exchange. With over 10,000 active members across five Divisional Wings—Dhaka, Rangpur, Rajshahi, Chattogram, and Barishal—UNYSAB has shaped future leaders for over two decades. Focused on leadership development, skill-building, and community impact, it continues to inspire young people to create lasting social change. Among its many community-driven activities, Eid for Street Children is one of UNYSAB's most heartfelt and impactful projects—anchored in empathy, inclusivity, and the belief that no child should be left out of celebration.
UNYSAB hosted the 17th edition of Eid for Street Children on March 21, reaching over a hundred underprivileged children and spreading the true spirit of Eid through love, sharing, and togetherness. This year's initiative went beyond just giving gifts; it was about making these children feel seen, valued, and celebrated. The children received new Eid clothes and food. Still, the day was filled with joy and creativity through activities like storytelling, drawing, Eid card-making, and mehendi (henna) application, followed by a heartfelt iftar shared with UNYSAB members, alums, volunteers, and special guests. The laughter and stories of the children filled the venue, creating a space where they felt like any other child celebrating Eid. This memorable event was made possible through the generous support of Unilever Bangladesh Limited and other donors whose compassion and commitment helped spread joy and impact these children's lives. Eid for Street Children (EFSC) is more than just an event of gift-giving; it is a powerful reminder that Eid is significant when shared with everyone, especially those often overlooked. For UNYSAB volunteers, EFSC is never just a task; it is a heartfelt mission. They engage deeply with the children, listening to their stories, playing games, and celebrating alongside them. One volunteer beautifully shared, "Today we didn't just give Eid clothes; we celebrated Eid with them. The joy and excitement in their eyes - that's the biggest gift we could ever receive."
EFSC is a testament to the transformative power of empathy and community. It carries a message beyond food and clothes - it's about building connections, making every child feel valued, and spreading joy where it's needed most. UNYSAB's commitment to standing beside underprivileged children grows stronger each year, ensuring that the colours of their dreams shine brighter and their futures are filled with hope. Because for UNYSAB, no Eid is complete until every child smiles. This beautiful tradition of love, inclusion, and compassion will endure, making a lasting impact on the lives of countless children year after year.
