UIU hosts dhaka regional round of world robot olympiad 2025

The Dhaka round of the World Robot Olympiad Bangladesh 2025 was held on Tuesday at UIU, drawing hundreds of enthusiastic students in a festive atmosphere.
For the first time, WRO Bangladesh is being organised at the regional level, with rounds taking place in Dhaka, Chattogram, and Rangpur. Winners will qualify for the national round in September, and selected teams will later represent Bangladesh at the World Robot Olympiad 2025 in Singapore in November.
This year's competition features four categories – Future Innovators, Future Engineers, RoboMission, and RoboSports – across three age groups: Elementary (8–12 years), Junior (11–15 years), and Senior (14–19 years).
In Dhaka, 27 teams competed in Future Innovators, 12 teams in Future Engineers, and others in RoboMission and RoboSports. Champions included SAF.AI, SARA Labs, and Robobra (senior group), Nittrabadha, Cyber Squad, Dumb Potbots, and Operation Void (junior group), Best Mechanics (elementary group), and Best Tech Obstructors (RoboSports).
The event was led by Professor Hasan Sarwar, Dean of UIU's School of Science and Engineering, and Professor Khondoker Abdullah Al Mamun, Director of UIU Research. The distinguished jury comprised academics and industry experts, while officials, mentors, coordinators, and volunteers oversaw the competition.
The competition was jointly organised by WRO Bangladesh and the Bangladesh Open Source Network (BdOSN), with The Business Standard serving as the media partner.
