Prime Bank holds ‘empowering youth’ seminar at iut under primeacademia
Prime Bank PLC, through its platform PrimeAcademia, has organised a seminar titled "Empowering Youth" at the Islamic University of Technology (IUT) in collaboration with the IUT Career and Business Society (CBS).
Prime Bank said the programme aimed to connect academic learning with practical financial knowledge and real-world exposure.
The seminar was attended by Professor Dr Mohammad Rafiqul Islam, vice-chancellor of IUT, as chief guest. In his address, he spoke about the importance of financial planning and encouraged students to develop saving habits early. He also recalled opening a DPS with Prime Bank in 1995, highlighting what he described as the long-term benefits of disciplined savings.
The keynote session was delivered by M M Mahbub Hasan, senior vice president and head of financial inclusion and school banking at Prime Bank. He emphasised financial discipline, continuous self-development and responsible decision-making. He said financial inclusion goes beyond opening bank accounts, and is also about expanding access to opportunities, reducing inequality and ensuring broader participation in the economy. He also discussed digital account opening (e-KYC) and modern banking services, and spoke about preparing young people for leadership in a changing financial landscape.
Also present from IUT were Dr Mwebesa Umar, registrar; Professor Dr Md Anayet Ullah Patwari, dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET); and Maruful Islam Bhuiyan, FCA, comptroller. Senior officials from Prime Bank and members of the organising committee also attended.
Prime Bank said PrimeAcademia aims to support students and faculty through opportunities to strengthen financial literacy, develop career skills and build leadership capacity.
