UCB signs MOU with Chattogram City Corporation

With a commitment to a greener Chattogram, United Commercial Bank PLC (UCB) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) on 18 May 2025.

Under this agreement, the abandoned playground adjacent to the Karnaphuli Shishu Park in Agrabad will be transformed into a modern, child-friendly recreational centre with advanced facilities. The Mou was signed in a cordial ceremony at UCB's headquarters.
Sheikh Muhammad Tauhidul Islam, Chief Executive Officer of Chattogram City Corporation, and Mohammad Mamdudur Rashid, Managing Director and CEO of UCB, signed the Memorandum of Understanding (Mou) on behalf of their respective organisations. Dr. Sahadat Hossain, Honourable Mayor of Chattogram City Corporation, and Sharif Zahir, Honourable Chairman of UCB, were also present at the signing, along with officials from both organisations.

Dr. Sahadat Hossain, Honourable Mayor of Chattogram City Corporation, praised UCB's relentless participation in developing a green and environmentally friendly Chattogram.
Moreover, Mohammad Mamdudur Rashid, Managing Director and CEO of UCB, expressed his commitment that UCB will be actively engaging in positive CSR activities.

In a city of nearly 7 million people, playgrounds and recreational spaces are crucial for the physical and mental development of children and adolescents. However, due to rapid urbanisation, Chattogram faces a growing shortage of such open spaces. Recognising this pressing need, CCC and UCB have jointly taken the initiative to implement this vital project.

With over four decades of leadership in financial services, corporate social responsibility, and sustainable development, UCB is proud to provide financial support for this noble endeavour. The bank is committed to creating a safe and enjoyable environment for children to play and grow healthily.
