From icebergs to eye care: Dr Niaz inspires ULAB students

Dr Niaz Abdur Rahman, a noted vitreo-retina surgeon and wildlife photographer, delivered an inspiring talk at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) titled "Visit to the White Continent," sharing his recent expedition to Antarctica.
Speaking to an engaged audience, Dr Niaz reflected on the continent's remote landscapes, diverse wildlife, and the environmental significance of preserving its fragile ecosystem.
Beyond his career in medicine, Dr Niaz is a passionate explorer and currently serves as President of the Bangladesh Bird Club. A Humphrey Fellow from Johns Hopkins and Managing Director of the Bangladesh Eye Hospital, he has authored over 60 scientific papers and founded several hospitals, including the Bangladesh Eye Trust.
Students praised the session as both visually stunning and intellectually enriching.
