Tanzanian rural energy delegation visits Idcol for renewable energy knowledge
A 12-member delegation from the Rural Energy Agency (REA), an agency under the Ministry of Energy of the United Republic of Tanzania, visited Bangladesh from 13 to 17 September for an experience-sharing and benchmarking mission.
The delegation met Infrastructure Development Company Limited (Idcol) on 15 and 16 September to learn about renewable energy financing, institutional arrangements and project implementation in Bangladesh, according to the press release.

Idcol has a long-standing association with the Rural Energy Agency and previously supported the agency in scoping and establishing Tanzania's Renewable Energy Investment Facility under assignments financed by the African Development Bank.
During the visit, Idcol shared its experience in renewable energy financing mechanisms, solar energy programmes, institutional arrangements, public-private partnerships, and project appraisal and monitoring.
The engagement aimed to strengthen cooperation between Bangladesh and Tanzania in the energy sector.
On 15 September, the delegation attended a full day of in-house presentations at Idcol, followed by a working lunch with Idcol's senior management.
On 16 September, Idcol facilitated field visits to Idcol-financed renewable energy projects across Chuadanga and Kushtia districts.
Idcol also facilitated meetings between the delegation and government and non-government stakeholders, including the Idcol Chairman and the Economic Relations Division Secretary, Md Shahriar Kader Siddiky.
Ambassador Major General Jacob Gidion Kingu (retd), chairman of the REA Board, led the delegation.
Engineer Hassan Seif Saidy Al Hinai, REA Director General, was also part of the delegation.
