NRB Bank joins Tk5,000cr Bangladesh Bank refinance schemes
NRB Bank PLC has signed three participation agreements with Bangladesh Bank's Sustainable Finance Department under refinance schemes worth a combined Tk5,000 crore for export diversification, green industries and the information and communication technology (ICT) sector.
The agreements cover the Tk3,000 crore Export Diversification Refinance Scheme, the Tk1,000 crore Refinance Scheme for Green Factory Building and Green Industry, and the Tk1,000 crore Refinance Scheme for the Development of ICT Sector, according to the press release.
These agreements will enable NRB Bank to facilitate financing for export-oriented industries under the Export Policy 2024–2027, particularly those under the Highest Priority Sectors and Special Development Sectors.
Eligible green factory buildings, green industries, and ICT-sector initiatives will also be able to access financing under the respective Bangladesh Bank refinance schemes, subject to applicable eligibility criteria.
Bangladesh Bank Sustainable Finance Department Director AKM Nurunnabi and NRB Bank PLC Managing Director and CEO Tarek Reaz Khan signed the agreements on behalf of their respective organisations.
NRB Bank PLC Deputy Managing Director M Rashidul Huda and other senior officials from both organisations also attended the signing ceremony.
Through its participation in the three refinance schemes, NRB Bank will expand financing opportunities for eligible businesses engaged in export diversification, environmentally sustainable industrial development, and the ICT sector.
The schemes are intended to support priority and emerging sectors of the economy by widening access to refinancing facilities for eligible enterprises.
