Tanjila turns her life around through training at Women Business Centre supported by The Coca-Cola Foundation
Forty-year-old Tanjila from Igoni Para faced immense challenges in her daily life after losing her husband, struggling to provide for her two sons and a daughter.
Left to care for her children alone, she faced mounting financial challenges that forced her to send her elder child abroad in search of income, even at the cost of his education. Despite her efforts in poultry farming, repeated losses due to animal illness left her with little hope.
Her fortunes turned when she learned about the Charpalish Women Business Centre's (WBC) vaccination campaign, supported by The Coca-Cola Foundation and United Purpose. There, she received training on poultry vaccination and animal health management, which transformed her small-scale farm into a sustainable source of income. With healthier chickens and improved farming practices, she now earns a steady monthly income sufficient for her family's living.
"Women Business Centre made me more than a mother. They made me an entrepreneur who can support her family," said Tanjila, now a producer at the Igoni Para Women Business Centre.
Tanjila's story reflects the powerful impact of the Women Business Centre initiative, which continues to uplift women by providing them with education, resources, and market opportunities. With dreams of expanding her farm and empowering others in her community, she stands as a symbol of resilience and determination.
The WBC initiative aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 5 (SDG 5) on gender equality by empowering women like Tanjila to gain economic independence and take charge of their financial futures, turning personal hardship into a story of hope and entrepreneurship.
