EWU seminar explores research, higher study opportunities in Japan

At a seminar at East West University (EWU), Japanese academics and education professionals discussed research, higher studies, and career opportunities in Japan.

The university's Department of English organised the seminar, titled "Unlock Your Global Future: Research and Study in Japan", with the Japanese Universities Alumni Association in Bangladesh (JUAAB) at the Manzur Elahi Auditorium on 16 August, according to a press release. The event followed an invitation from EWU.

East West University Board of Trustees Chairperson Professor Dr Mohammed Farashuddin attended the seminar as chief guest.

JUAAB President Dr ATM Zafrul Azam was present as special guest, while Professor Dr Sheikh Mohammad Fazle Akbar attended as guest of honour.

East West University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Shams Rahman chaired the seminar.

A delegation of Japanese academics and education professionals delivered presentations in the technical sessions.

The speakers included Professor Shinjiro Ogita, Dean of the Prefectural University of Hiroshima, and Professor Hiroki Hamada, Director of the Okayama University of Science.

Tokai University Associate Professor Miwa Abe and Visiting Professor Yoshio Maeda also delivered presentations.

Professor Daizo Kudo of Naase Viita Co Ltd and Study Japan Director Kamamoto were among the other speakers.

They discussed contemporary research trends, English-taught degree programmes, Japanese-language preparation and opportunities for international students in Japan.

The speakers also explained how prospective students could identify and communicate with potential supervisors at Japanese universities.

They provided practical guidance on master's and PhD programmes, research proposals, academic careers and employment opportunities in Japan.

An open discussion and question-and-answer session allowed students and faculty members to interact directly with the visiting academics and education professionals.
