Summit LNG marks 250th STS operation milestone
Summit LNG Terminal Co (Pvt) Ltd (SLNG) has celebrated the completion of its 250th Ship-to-Ship (STS) transfer, marking a major operational milestone for the country's first offshore LNG terminal.
During the 2024–25 financial year alone, the facility supplied around 13% of Bangladesh's total gas demand. Since its commissioning in April 2019, SLNG has received 35,054,637 cubic metres of LNG and supplied about 785,549,295 MMBTU of regasified LNG (RLNG) to the national grid.
The company expressed appreciation to Excelerate Energy LP and PSA Marine, Singapore for their support in ensuring safe and uninterrupted STS and terminal operations. SLNG also thanked the Government of Bangladesh, Petrobangla and RPGCL for their continued confidence in the terminal, as well as foreign lenders including SMBC, Singapore.
SLNG acknowledged the contributions of its engineering and classification partners—MacGregor, Geocean, Det Norske Veritas (DNV), Bureau Veritas (BV) and Shelf Subsea—and noted that major global oil and gas companies such as QatarGas, BP, Shell, Total, Chevron Shipping, Cheniere Energy, Petronas and NLNG have vetted the terminal as a compliant and safe facility.
The company also recognised the support of a wide range of government and regulatory bodies, including the Department of Shipping, Chittagong Port Authority, Department of Environment, BIDA, BERC, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Customs, NBR, Bangladesh Bank, GTCL, Bangladesh Navy, Coast Guard and the Cox's Bazar district administration, among others.
SLNG further thanked its LNG-supply partners—Qatar Energy, BP Shipping, Nakilat Shipping, Maran Gas Maritime, MOL LNG Shipmanagement, NYK, K-Line, Höegh LNG, Teekay Shipping, Golar LNG and Shell International Trading and Shipping Co Ltd.
The company said the milestone reflects the dedication and professionalism of its workforce, who ensure safe and efficient operations at the offshore terminal.
