SUB and SCHS jointly celebrate world cancer day 2025 with rally and seminar

The Department of Public Health, the State University of Bangladesh (SUB), and the State College of Health Sciences (SCHS) jointly organised a rally and seminar today to mark World Cancer Day 2025.
The event aimed to raise awareness and promote collective action in the fight against cancer.
The event commenced with a rally at 10:00 AM, starting from Bijoy Tower and concluding at Shadhinota Tower. Students, faculty members, and distinguished guests participated enthusiastically. Following the rally, a seminar was held at Shadhinota Tower, featuring insightful discussions on cancer prevention, early detection, and the importance of closing the care gap in cancer treatment.
The programme was graced by esteemed dignitaries, including Professor Dr Akhter Hossain Khan, Vice Chancellor (Designate), SUB, Professor Dr Nawzia Yasmin, Pro-Vice Chancellor, SUB, Prof. Dr. Md. Speaking at the seminar, Professor Dr Nawzia Yasmin, Pro-Vice Chancellor of SUB, emphasised the significance of early detection and accessible healthcare, stating, "Cancer awareness and prevention must be a collective effort. By educating communities and advocating for better healthcare policies, we can save countless lives."
The event successfully engaged students, faculty, and health professionals, reinforcing the importance of early diagnosis, treatment, and community involvement in reducing the impact of cancer.
