Southeast Bank PLC celebrates 30 years of excellence in Banking

Since its inception in 1995, Southeast Bank has upheld a strong legacy of trust, innovation, and commitment to excellence in Bangladesh's banking industry.

Over the past three decades, Southeast Bank has transformed into a forward-looking institution with a strategic focus on financial inclusion, sustainable growth, digital innovation, and uncompromising service excellence. Through its nationwide network of branches and customer-centric services, Southeast Bank has contributed meaningfully to Bangladesh's economic advancement.

On May 25, 2025, Southeast Bank PLC. celebrated its 30th anniversary, a glorious chapter in a long journey. On the occasion of the 30th founding anniversary, Southeast Bank organised a colourful event on May 24, which was held at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre. The celebration was graced by Ms. Nazma Mobarek, Honourable Secretary, Financial Institutions Division, Ministry of Finance, Government of the Republic of Bangladesh, as the Chief Guest, who commended the Bank's long-standing contribution to the country's financial sector. Md. Zakir Hossain Chowdhury, Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank, was also present as the Special Guest. Mr. M. A. Kashem, Chairman of Southeast Bank PLC, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Bank's clients, stakeholders, and employees, emphasising the values of trust, integrity, and innovation guiding the Bank over the past three decades. Mrs Rehana Rahman, Vice Chairperson of Southeast Bank PLC, also gave a valuable speech at that event. Mr. Abidur Rahman Chowdhury, Managing Director (Current Charge), delivered his welcome remarks.

Mr M A Kashem, Founder Chairman and Sponsor Director, led the glorious journey of Southeast Bank. He is a founding North South University Trust member and has been Chairman for four terms. He is a successful former President of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), the apex body of all businessmen in Bangladesh. A philanthropist and prominent industrialist, Mr. Kashem is a Distinguished educationist and social worker. 

He is the former Chairman of the Association of Private Universities of Bangladesh, representing all the country's private universities.  He was a member of the Board of Trustees of Hamdard Laboratories (Wakf), Bangladesh, a leading manufacturer of herbal medicines in the subcontinent, for 17 years. As a prominent businessman, he has led the FBCCI trade delegation and the North-South University delegation on behalf of Bangladeshi businesses and educational institutions in all major cities worldwide.

The founder of Southeast Bank, Mr M A Kashem, had a dream from the beginning of a bank that would not only provide financial services but also play a role in the development of society. Under his visionary leadership, Southeast Bank has become a safe, trustworthy and inclusive institution, constantly gaining the people's trust and moving forward to the peak of heights. He further said that due to the efforts, dedication, and love of all the officers and employees of the Bank, the Bank has achieved sustainable development despite hundreds of adversities. He deeply appreciated the employees' contribution and urged them to work with love and dedication towards the Bank.

As we celebrate this remarkable 30-year journey, Southeast Bank PLC extends its deepest gratitude to every customer, partner, employee, and well-wisher who has been part of the Bank's story. Customers' trust has been the Bank's greatest strength; Customers support the Bank's constant inspiration. With Banks' roots grounded in values and Banks' vision set on the future, Southeast Bank has renewed its commitment to serve, grow, and contribute to the nation's progress.

In addition, the Southeast Bank Board of Directors, Respected Customers, Artists, Literary Figures, cultural and economic-commercial Elites, Administrative Officials, bank Executives and Officers, and eminent personalities from various spheres of society were present at the event.
