Southeast Bank introduces special credit and prepaid cards
Southeast Bank PLC. and North South University (NSU) have launched a VISA Co-Branded Credit and Prepaid Card to promote digital financial inclusion for the academic community.
The launch was held recently at the NSU campus in Bashundhara, Dhaka.
The event was graced by Professor Dr. Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, Vice Chancellor of NSU; Mr. Abidur Rahman Chowdhury, Managing Director (Current Charge) of Southeast Bank PLC; and Mr. Sabbir Ahmed, Country Manager of Visa for Bangladesh, Nepal, and Bhutan.

As part of the initiative, Southeast Bank has rolled out co-branded credit cards exclusively for eligible NSU faculty and staff, offering lifetime annual fee waivers and tailored credit limits based on individual eligibility. For current NSU students, the bank is offering co-branded prepaid cards, which come with a first-year fee waiver and Tk300 cashback on the first transaction.
These prepaid cards are enabled for both local and international transactions, including online payments for foreign university application fees. The initiative aims to provide students with a secure, cashless payment experience while supporting their academic and lifestyle needs.
Senior officials from Southeast Bank, NSU, and Visa attended the ceremony, including the registrar, treasurer, and heads of key divisions.
Speaking at the event, Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Abdul Hannan Chowdhury praised the partnership, stating, "This card will make financial transactions easier and more accessible for our students and faculty, especially those engaging with international institutions."
