NCC Bank to plant over 14,000 trees across the country
NCC Bank has launched a nationwide tree plantation campaign as part of its corporate social responsibility, aiming to plant over 14,000 trees across Bangladesh to commemorate World Earth Day.
This project highlights the bank's dedication to environmental sustainability and community involvement.
The project, titled 'Apner Sathay Sobujer Pothay' (Towards a Greener Future with You), was launched by M Shamsul Arefin, Managing Director of NCC Bank, at Begum Nurjahan Memorial Girls' High School, Mohammadpur, Dhaka.
Distinguished participants included Md Alauddin, Headmaster; Md Habibur Rahman, Deputy Managing Director of NCC Bank; Nighat Mumtaz, EVP and Head of Sustainable and Women's Banking; Md Jashimuddin, SVP and Head of Dhaka Outskirts Region; Md Anisur Rahman Majumder, Head of Financial Inclusion Cell; S M Tanvir Hasan, Head of Retail Banking Unit; Md Khairul Bashar, Head of Business and Branch at Mohammadpur Branch; and other representatives from the head office and Mohammadpur branch.
Fruit saplings were planted on the school grounds, and 150 students received saplings through the campaign.
Tree-planting activities will take place at 40 schools nationwide, with over 14,000 students set to receive saplings.
The event also included awareness sessions. These covered student banking, financial literacy, and digital banking for students.
Speaking at the event, M Shamsul Arefin emphasised NCC Bank's commitment to environmental sustainability and social responsibility.
He stated that the initiative aims to reduce carbon emissions. It also seeks to inspire the younger generation to help build a greener environment.
He encouraged students to plant trees at home, on rooftops, and on unused land.
He added that NCC Bank continues to prioritise environmentally friendly financing. The bank also remains committed to impactful CSR initiatives.
He invited students and teachers to use the bank's fully digital, eco-conscious savings solution, the NCC NeoX Account.
Arefin expressed optimism that such initiatives will help build a greener, pollution-free Bangladesh for future generations. He reaffirmed NCC Bank's commitment to continuing its efforts in this regard.
