Seminar held on BADC's water-saving irrigation technology
A seminar was held today at the Irrigation Bhaban on Manik Mia Avenue to discuss three ongoing projects implemented by the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC).
These include the "Water-Saving Irrigation Technology and Safe Production of Vegetables, Fruits and Flowers through Polytunnel Construction Project," the "Irrigation Development Project Using Surface Water in Chattogram and Cox's Bazar Districts," and the "Irrigation Development Project in Barishal, Bhola, Jhalokathi and Pirojpur Districts."
The event was graced by the presence of Dr Mohammad Emdad Ullah Mian, Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, as the chief guest. The seminar was chaired by BADC Chairman (Grade-1), Md Ruhul Amin Khan.
In his presidential remarks, the BADC Chairman stated that BADC, as a historically significant institution, has played a vital role in the development of agriculture and farmers since its inception. He highlighted BADC's invaluable and undeniable contributions in providing farmers with essential agricultural inputs such as seeds, fertilisers, and irrigation facilities.
He noted that BADC continues to take significant steps to expand irrigation coverage nationwide. Among these, the water-saving irrigation and polytunnel cultivation project stands out as an innovative and impactful initiative. Given its unique nature, he emphasised that all those involved must carry out the project with integrity and accountability. He urged stakeholders to implement the activities responsibly, free from irregularities and arbitrary practices, to ensure the project's full benefits and long-term success.
