Retired power employees call for greater welfare, reform in sector
The Bangladesh Association for Retired Power Employees' Welfare (BARPEW) Cumilla branch held a view-exchange and general meeting at Hotel Grand Deshpriya in Kandirpar, Cumilla, on 7 November 2025.
The event was organised by the Cumilla branch of BARPEW and attended by Engineer Sheikh Md Alauddin, central president of the association, as the chief guest.
Md Tofazzal Hossain Pramanik, chief engineer of the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) Cumilla region; Kazi Ahsan Ullah, central vice-president of BARPEW; Engineer Md Ainul Haque; and Engineer Khan Manjur Morshed, general secretary of the association, attended as special guests.
The meeting was presided over by Engineer Md Shahabuddin, president of the Cumilla branch, and conducted by Engineer Md Mokhlesur Rahman, general secretary of the Cumilla branch.
Speakers discussed in detail the challenges faced by retired and serving employees of the power sector, along with possible solutions. They also emphasised the need to strengthen and modernise Bangladesh's power sector to ensure sustainable progress.
