Regional rounds of Bangladesh junior science olympiad 2025 concludes

The regional phase of the Bangladesh Junior Science Olympiad (BDJSO) 2025 concluded on Saturday with simultaneous events in Netrokona and Chattogram, where over a thousand students participated.
This year, six regional Olympiads were held nationwide. The first phase took place in Khulna and Rajshahi. Next were events in Dhaka and Rangpur. The final phase concluded with Netrokona and Chattogram. Winners from all regions will compete in the national round in Dhaka.
In Netrokona, the regional round took place on August 29 at Datta High School. More than 300 students attended from Mymensingh, Tangail, Netrokona, Jamalpur, and Sherpur. Following an inaugural ceremony, participants took a one-hour and fifteen-minute test. The event was chaired by Md Mojibur Rahman, Headmaster of Datta High School. Md Asaduzzaman Bhuiyan, Branch Manager of Al-Arafah Islami Bank, Netrokona, was the chief guest.
The Chattogram round was held on August 30 at 8:00 a.m. Over 400 students attended from Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Feni, Bandarban, Khagrachhari, and Rangamati. Distinguished guests included Professor Ujjal Kumar Dev of Chattogram University of Engineering and Technology, Professor Animesh Chakraborty of the physics department, and Professor Adnan Mannan of Chattogram University's genetic engineering and biotechnology department. Professor Dr Farhana Akhter of Chattogram Medical College, Jamshed Ahmed Chowdhury, Executive Vice President and Regional Head of Al-Arafah Islami Bank, Abu Hena Md Mostafa Jamal, Principal of CDA Public School and College, and Munir Hasan, President of the Society for Popularisation of Science in Bangladesh (SPSB), were also present.
In Chattogram, students took a one-hour and fifteen-minute examination, followed by a Q&A session with university professors. The day ended with the distribution of medals and certificates. In total, 15 students were selected from the primary category, 26 from the junior category, and 21 from the secondary category.
Winners from the regional rounds will compete in the national phase in Dhaka. From there, 60 top students will be invited to a special BDJSO camp for intensive training and preparation. Based on their performance at the camp, six will be chosen to represent Bangladesh at the 22nd International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO). The IJSO will be held in Russia in December.
As in previous years, BDJSO is jointly organised by the Society for Popularisation of Science, Bangladesh, and the Bangladesh Freedom Foundation, with Al-Arafah Islami Bank Limited as the main sponsor. Kishor Alo and Biggan Chinta are the magazine partners, while Makslab and Rokomari are event associates.
