Wagely, BGMEA to train 50,000 RMG workers in financial literacy
Wagely and the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) have partnered to train 50,000 workers in Bangladesh's ready-made garment (RMG) sector in financial literacy and soft skills.
The initiative will use a train-the-trainer model to help participating factories deliver high-quality learning programmes to their workers, according to a press release.
In the first phase, BGMEA will select 50 garment factories for the programme.
Through BGMEA's Skill Development Sub-Committee, led by Skill Development Committee Chairman Jabed Hossain, Wagely will train key personnel from the selected factories in the training methodology.
The certified trainers will then conduct sessions for workers at their respective factories, where a structured monitoring framework will assess the quality and impact of the training.
BGMEA Vice President Shehab Uddoza Chowdhury, Chairman-SDP Jabed Hossain, and Wagely Managing Director Noor Elahi were present at the signing of the partnership agreement.
Senior officials from both organisations were also present at the event.
Speaking at the event, Noor Elahi said, "Building a financially informed and resilient workforce is fundamental to creating sustainable businesses.
"Through this partnership with BGMEA, we aim to empower thousands of garment workers with practical financial knowledge and essential workplace skills that will positively impact both their personal well-being and professional growth."
Shehab Uddoza Chowdhury said the strength and competitiveness of Bangladesh's RMG industry depended on the continuous development of its workforce.
"This partnership with Wagely reflects BGMEA's commitment to empowering workers with practical financial literacy and essential soft skills that enhance both their personal well-being and workplace productivity," he said.
"We believe initiatives like these will contribute to building a more resilient, skilled, and future-ready industry."
The organisations said the partnership combines BGMEA's industry leadership with Wagely's expertise in employee financial wellness and learning.
The initiative is expected to create a scalable workforce capacity-building model and contribute to a more skilled, financially resilient, and competitive RMG sector in Bangladesh.
