Radhuni honours four women at kirtimoti sommanona 2025 in Dhaka
Four women were honoured for their contributions to social welfare, journalism, entrepreneurship, and sports at the "Radhuni Kirtimoti Sommanona 2025", held at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka on Saturday, 7 March 2026, marking International Women's Day.
Now in its 20th year, the initiative is organised by Radhuni, a brand of Square Food & Beverage Limited, to recognise women whose work has made a national impact, the organisers said. The winners were selected through nationwide nominations and a selection process conducted by a panel comprising Tushar Abdullah, Editorial Head of Ekhon TV; Taslima Miji, Founder of Gootipa; Senior Journalist Mustafa Mamun; and Sabila Enun, Director of DCastalia Limited.
Welcoming guests, Md Parvez Saiful Islam, CEO of Square Food & Beverage Limited, referred to the "Give to Gain" theme and said: "Respect, recognition, and support for women is not just an acknowledgement of their achievements—it is an investment in society. When a woman rises, her family, her workplace, and the nation rise with her. Through the 'Radhuni Kirtimoti Sommanona', we aim to celebrate that progress and honour women's invaluable contributions."
Special guests included Rubaba Dowla, Chairperson of the BCB Women's Wing and Country Managing Director of Oracle Bangladesh; Dr Rubana Huq, Chairperson of Mohammadi Group; Ekushey Padak–winning artist Kanak Chanpa Chakma; and Dewan Hanif Mahmud, Founder Editor and CEO of Bonik Barta. Also present were Anjan Chowdhury, Managing Director of Square Food & Beverage Limited; Geetiara Safia Chowdhury, Chairperson of Adcomm Limited; Imtiaz Firoze, Head of Marketing at Square Food & Beverage Limited; and other guests.
The programme began with an audio-visual presentation marking two decades of the initiative, followed by a presentation on Radhuni's work in women's development. A sand art performance by artist Jibon Roy was also staged, the organisers said.
The award recipients were:
- Kawser Soheli, recipient of the Kirtimoti Journalist Award for investigative reporting on social and governance issues
- Nur Nahar, recipient of the Kirtimoti Award for Social Welfare for founding Bonchita and working for the rights of sex workers and marginalised women
- Mst Suraya Farhana Resma, recipient of the Kirtimoti Entrepreneur Award for agricultural initiatives supporting women's livelihoods
- Ritu Porna Chakma, recipient of the Kirtimoti Sportsperson Award; she is a two-time SAFF Women's Championship winner and a one-time Best Player Award recipient
The winners received crests and cheques from the guests, the organisers said.
Mediacom Limited managed production of the event. Highlights will be broadcast on Maasranga Television on Sunday, 8 March, at 9:00 pm, the organisers said.
