PPP Authority explores investment prospects in Bogura

The Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Authority of Bangladesh hosted a Divisional PPP Conference and Workshop at Hotel Naz Garden, Bogura, to accelerate investment through enhanced public-private collaboration.
The event was attended by key stakeholders from both public and private sectors, marking a significant step towards decentralised PPP initiatives and promoting regional economic development.
Mr Muhammad Rafiqul Islam, Secretary to the Government of Bangladesh and Chief Executive Officer of the PPP Authority graced the event as Chief Guest. Ms Hosna Afroz, District Magistrate of Bogura, chaired the session and underscored the district's strategic potential to attract long-term investments. Among other notable attendees were the Police Superintendent of Bogura, Zedan Al Musa, the Additional Divisional Commissioner, Parvez Raihan, and the Civil Surgeon of Bogura.
The workshop featured robust participation from large-scale investors, government officials, and development professionals. Discussions focused on unlocking investment opportunities using underutilised public assets, with particular attention given to the state-owned sugar mill lands in Bogura. These sites were recognised as high-potential locations for future PPP projects.
Participants also reviewed successful PPP models, such as the transformation of state-owned textile mills, as examples of how public-private collaboration can revitalise legacy industries.
Several panel discussions highlighted both significant- and small-scale PPP opportunities across key sectors, including agro-processing, healthcare, tourism, and infrastructure. Speakers emphasised the need for policy support, capacity building, and streamlined regulatory mechanisms to facilitate the smooth implementation of projects.
The conference served as a platform for knowledge sharing and networking, reinforcing the PPP Authority's ongoing efforts to build an inclusive, investment-friendly environment in regions outside the capital.
The event concluded with a call to action for greater coordination among local authorities, line ministries, and the private sector to ensure sustainable and impactful project outcomes through the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
