PM visits Daffodil pavilion at semiconductor summit
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman visited the Daffodil Computers pavilion at the Semiconductor Symposium and BEAR Summit 2026 in Dhaka on Saturday, where he inspected locally manufactured technology products and student-led innovations.
Daffodil Group showcased its work in artificial intelligence, robotics, electronics manufacturing and other advanced technologies at the event, held at the Bhashani Novotheatre in Agargaon, according to a press release.
The Prime Minister was accompanied by Fakir Mahbub Anam, MP, Minister for the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology and the Ministry of Science and Technology; Rehan Asif Asad, ICT Adviser to the Government; and senior government secretaries.

During the visit, Tarique Rahman inspected DCL Hi-Tech's laptop and information and communications technology hardware manufacturing operations.
He praised the initiative and emphasised the importance of promoting locally manufactured technology products in international markets under the "Made in Bangladesh" brand, the release said.
The Prime Minister also spoke with Professor Dr Md Sabur Khan, Chairman of Daffodil Group, about projects and technology-based solutions developed by students of Daffodil International University.
Professor Dr Khan said some innovations could support government development initiatives more cost-effectively and efficiently. The Prime Minister expressed interest, while the minister and ICT adviser also recognised the proposals' potential, according to the release.
Professor Dr Khan invited the Prime Minister to visit Daffodil Hi-Tech Park, saying it contributed to the country's technology ecosystem and the development of industry-ready professionals. The Prime Minister accepted the invitation.
Professor Dr Khan also proposed reactivating the ICT Task Force, which was established in 2001 under the late former prime minister Begum Khaleda Zia. He said the initiative could help accelerate the development of Bangladesh's ICT sector.
The Prime Minister said the proposal would receive due consideration.
At the pavilion, DCL Hi-Tech demonstrated its electronics manufacturing processes, including surface-mount technology, printed circuit board assembly, product integration and quality assurance.
Daffodil Robotics exhibited projects involving robotics, automation, embedded systems and AI-powered technologies.
Daffodil International University presented initiatives covering artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, cybersecurity, extended reality, student capstone projects, start-up development and industry-linked research.
Daffodil Software also displayed AI-powered products, including AI Professor, Central AI, the Integrated University Management System and 1 Card.
Daffodil Computers said its participation aimed to expand cooperation with policymakers, universities, research institutions, businesses, development partners, investors and international technology organisations.
