Pharma Fest 2025 showcases innovation in pharmaceutical sciences
The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at North South University (NSU), in collaboration with the NSU Pharmaceutical Club (NSUPC), successfully organised the two-day event "Joya Sanitary Napkin presents Pharma Fest 2025", celebrating academic excellence, innovation, and collaboration between pharmacy students and industry leaders.
The festival began on 5 November 2025 with an exclusive Industrial Advisory Board and Leaders' Meetup, followed by a lively Alumni Night that reunited former and current students. Throughout the day, participants from universities across Bangladesh took part in national-level debates, Olympiads, poster presentations, and stall exhibitions.
The Opening Ceremony on 6 November commenced with a welcome address by Dr Mohammad Hossain Shariare, Chairman, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, NSU. The session was graced by Prof Dr Dipak Kumar Mitra, Dean, School of Health and Life Sciences; Prof Abdur Rob Khan, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (In-Charge) and Treasurer; Mr Sayef Nasir, Managing Director, SMC Enterprise Ltd; Mr M A Kashem, Member, Board of Trustees; and Mr Aziz Al Kaiser (Tito), Chairman, Board of Trustees, NSU.
In his remarks, Sayef Nasir highlighted the importance of leadership, innovation, and women's health in Bangladesh, underscoring the vital role of corporate vision in advancing healthcare and the pharmaceutical industry.
The ceremony also featured a keynote address by Syed S Kaiser Kabir, CEO and Managing Director of Renata PLC, who spoke about innovation, ethics, and entrepreneurship in the pharmaceutical sector. The session concluded with a vote of thanks from Faculty Advisor Adit Muktadir Pavel, followed by the inauguration of the official magazine and Pharma Exhibition 2025.
The exhibition garnered widespread appreciation for showcasing the research, innovation, and creativity of NSU students, providing a platform for academic–industrial integration and reaffirming NSU's commitment to research-driven learning.
The Closing Ceremony, held later in the day, featured distinguished guests including Prof Dr Mohammad Hossain Shariare, Prof Dr Dipak Kumar Mitra, Prof Abdur Rob Khan, Mr Benajir Ahmed, Mr Aziz Al Kaiser (Tito), Ms Zareen Karim, Managing Director, Orion Pharma Ltd, and Mr Md Nasser Shahrear Zahedee, Chairman, Radiant Pharmaceuticals Ltd, who attended as the Chief Guest. The session was chaired by Prof Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, Vice-Chancellor of NSU, who emphasised the importance of academia–industry synergy in shaping the next generation of pharmacists.
The event concluded with a Prize Giving Ceremony followed by a cultural programme, marking the end of two days of learning, networking, and celebration.
Pharma Fest 2025 once again reaffirmed NSU's commitment to nurturing future leaders in pharmaceutical sciences and strengthening partnerships between academia, industry, and innovation.
