Petrobangla gets new chairman as Md Arfanul Hoque takes charge
Additional Secretary Md Arfanul Hoque has assumed the position of Chairman of Bangladesh Oil, Gas and Mineral Corporation (Petrobangla) on deputation, effective from 5 February 2026.
Prior to this appointment, Hoque served as Additional Secretary in the Energy and Mineral Resources Division. He is from the 18th batch of the Bangladesh Civil Service (Administration) cadre and joined the service on 25 January 1999.
During his career, he served in field administration as a first-class magistrate, Assistant Commissioner (Land), and Upazila Nirbahi Officer. He has also held various roles in the Ministry of Education, the ICT Division, the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, and the Ministry of Public Administration.
Hoque completed a master's degree in International Relations from the University of Dhaka and earned a second master's degree in International Relations from Waseda University in Tokyo, Japan.
He has sought the cooperation of all concerned in fulfilling his responsibilities as Chairman of Petrobangla.
