NSU signs mou with Commercial Bank of Ceylon
North South University (NSU) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC on Monday, 12 January, 2026 at the NSU campus, aiming to strengthen collaboration between academia and the banking sector.
The partnership seeks to enhance student career development, industry exposure and professional skill-building opportunities.
The MoU signing ceremony was attended by Vice Chancellor of NSU Professor Dr Abdul Hannan Chowdhury and Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Naser U Ahmed. They highlighted the importance of strategic industry partnerships in preparing students for the evolving professional landscape and improving graduate employability.
The initiative was led by Associate Professor Dr Farzana Nahid, director of the Career and Placement Centre of NSU, who played a key role in facilitating the collaboration. She said the agreement would expand opportunities for internships, career seminars, professional training programmes and employment for NSU students.
Representing Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC at the ceremony were Chief Executive Officer Najith Meewanage, Deputy Chief Executive Officer Haily Algewatte, Head of Personal Banking Md Faisal Haque, Manager of the Human Resources Department Irin Parvin and Head of Progati Sharani SME Md Jahidul Hasan Kabir.
Their participation, NSU officials said, reflects the bank's commitment to building a long-term partnership focused on talent development and industry-academia linkage.
