NCC Bank recognised among top sustainable banks

NCC Bank PLC has been recognised as one of the "Top Sustainable Banks" in Bangladesh for 2024 by Bangladesh Bank, in acknowledgment of its strong commitment to sustainable finance and inclusive banking practices.
To mark this achievement, the bank hosted a modest celebration at its head office. Managing Director M. Shamsul Arefin led the event alongside Additional Managing Director M. Khurshed Alam and Deputy Managing Directors Md. Mahbub Alam, Md. Zakir Anam, Md. Monirul Alam and Mohammed Mizanur Rahman. Also present were Nighat Mumtaz, Head of Sustainable and Women's Banking, and other senior officials.
Mr. Arefin congratulated all officers and employees on this milestone, crediting the recognition to the bank's focused adherence to the central bank's sustainability guidelines. He noted that NCC Bank made notable progress in five key performance areas: sustainable financing, CSR activities, green project refinancing, core banking indicators, and service coverage.
In 2024, the bank recorded a 497% increase in sustainable finance and a 272% rise in green finance, alongside 16% growth in deposits, 11% growth in SME lending, and a 5% increase in overall loan disbursement. Under its CSR initiatives, NCC Bank supported over 15,000 marginal farmers with agricultural inputs.
Mr. Arefin also highlighted the growing popularity of specialized services, such as 'NCC Islamic Banking' for Shariah-compliant customers and 'NCC Parama'—a women-focused initiative. The bank's digital platform, 'NCC Always', has further enhanced the customer experience and accessibility of services.
Looking ahead, he reaffirmed NCC Bank's commitment to expanding risk-free investment avenues and promoting sustainable finance in line with the country's green growth agenda.
