NCC Bank organises eye camp to support poor patients in Feni
NCC Bank has conducted a free eye care camp in Feni, advancing its corporate social responsibility agenda to mark its 33rd founding anniversary.
The camp, organised by NCC Bank Foundation in association with Bangladesh Eye Trust Hospital, took place at Moulvi Shamsul Karim College in Chhagalnaiya, Feni, according to a press release issued on 22 May 2026.
NCC Bank Chairman Md Nurun Newaz Salim inaugurated the camp at a formal ceremony.
NCC Bank Managing Director M Shamsul Arefin; Sharif Mohammad Mahsin, Senior Vice President and Head of SME and Agri Credit Division; Khandaker Saiful Alam, Senior Vice President and Head of the Foundation; Abdul Jalil, acting principal of the college; and local dignitaries attended the programme.
During the day-long camp, 1,125 underprivileged patients received complimentary medical consultations, medicines and spectacles.
Patients selected for cataract surgery will be provided with free transport to and from Dhaka, accommodation and meals, surgery utilising a phaco machine, post-operative medicines and protective eyewear.
Addressing the event virtually, Munshi Rafiqul Alam Maznu, Member of Parliament for Feni-1, welcomed the initiative.
He noted that the underprivileged people of Feni district would benefit from NCC Bank's programme and be spared from preventable blindness.
NCC Bank Chairman Md Nurun Newaz Salim stated that the bank is committed not only to profit, but also to enhancing the quality of life for disadvantaged communities by supporting essential needs such as education, healthcare and medical services.
He thanked Bangladesh Eye Trust Hospital for its support and expressed optimism that the bank would continue similar initiatives in the future.
Managing Director M Shamsul Arefin stated that NCC Bank remains committed to implementing diverse CSR initiatives for underprivileged communities.
He highlighted that these efforts encompass distribution of winter clothing, food supplies, agricultural inputs and machinery to ultra-poor communities; provision of scholarships to disadvantaged and meritorious students; plantation of saplings at schools; and support for climate adaptation and sustainable livelihood projects in riverine regions.
He added that, as part of these ongoing efforts, the initiative aims to deliver free eye care services to disadvantaged individuals in Chhagalnaiya upazila.
