NCC Bank expands Islamic banking with new Feni branch
NCC Bank has inaugurated its full-fledged Shari'ah-based Islamic banking branch in Feni on Thursday, 22 January 2026, marking a milestone in the bank's expansion of Islamic banking services across the country.
The branch was inaugurated by Md Nurun Newaz Salim, chairman of NCC Bank, as the chief guest. Special guests included vice-chairman Abdus Salam, chairman of the executive committee Khairul Alam Chaklader, and director Syed Asif Nizamuddin. The programme was presided over by M Shamsul Arefin, managing director of the bank.
Among others present were deputy managing directors Md Zakir Anam and Md Habibur Rahman, EVP and head of Islamic banking Abul Quasem Md Safiullah, SVP and head of SME Sharif Mohammad Mahsin, SVP and regional head (South East Region) Mohammad Nurul Haque, VP and head of branch support Khaled Afzal Rahim, heads of nearby branches, along with local businesspersons, customers and other guests.
In his address, chairman Md Nurun Newaz Salim said that over its 32-year journey, NCC Bank has earned customer trust through modern, technology-driven and timely banking services.
'Considering the growing importance of Islamic banking in Bangladesh's socio-economic context, we have introduced Shari'ah-based banking operations, which have received encouraging responses. Alongside conventional banking, Islamic banking will play an important role in strengthening the country's financial sector and local economy,' he said, urging businesspersons and professionals in the region to avail themselves of NCC Islamic Banking services.
Managing director M Shamsul Arefin said that given the strong potential of Islamic banking in Bangladesh, NCC Bank has been expanding Shari'ah-compliant banking services nationwide.
He said the bank has already opened two full-fledged Islamic banking branches in Gulshan, Dhaka and Muradpur, Chattogram, and introduced Islamic banking windows in 32 branches across the country. The newly inaugurated Feni branch is part of this expansion, he added, noting that more Islamic banking windows and full-fledged branches will be launched in the future.
Through the Feni branch, customers from all sectors – including SMEs, agriculture and import-export trade – will be able to access comprehensive Shari'ah-based Islamic banking services, he said.
