Nagad extends electricity bill payment to 24 districts under BREB network
Customers of 20 Palli Bidyut Samities (PBSs) under the Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board (BREB) can now pay their postpaid electricity bills through Nagad, expanding the service to 29 PBSs across 24 districts, according to a press release.
With the latest expansion, more than half of rural electricity customers will be able to pay bills through Nagad. Customers can use the Nagad app by selecting "Bill Pay", choosing "Electricity", and then "Palli Bidyut Postpaid" to complete the payment.
The newly added PBSs are Feni, Cumilla-1, Cumilla-2, Cumilla-4, Brahmanbaria, Kushtia, Jhenaidah, Faridpur, Barishal-2, Bhola, Dhaka-1, Dhaka-3, Dhaka-4, Narayanganj-1, Gazipur-1, Mymensingh-1, Sunamganj, Jashore-1, Jhalakathi, and Cox's Bazar PBS.
Earlier, customers of Netrokona, Pabna-1, Rajbari, Rajshahi, Rangpur-1, Sylhet-1, Sylhet-2, and Tangail PBSs had access to the service, according to the release.
Around 80% of Bangladesh's electricity consumers are served under BREB, while Nagad has more than 80 million customers. The two organisations have been working together since an agreement signed in 2023.
