MTB and Visa launch multipurpose student card at Pundra University
As part of the nationwide "Cashless Bangladesh" awareness programme, Mutual Trust Bank PLC (MTB), in collaboration with Visa, launched the country's first Multipurpose Student Card at Pundra University of Science and Technology, Bogura.
The innovative card combines a Student ID and payment card into one, enabling seamless digital payments across campus canteens, libraries, and merchant points. This initiative is a significant step towards building a smart, cashless, and inclusive economy, in line with the vision of the Honorable Governor of Bangladesh Bank for a digital Bangladesh.
The event was presided over by Rafeza Akhter Kanta, Director, Payment Systems Department, Bangladesh Bank, with the inauguration led by Arief Hossain Khan, Executive Director, Bangladesh Bank. Special guests included Sardar Al Emran, Executive Director (Current Charge), Bangladesh Bank, Bogura; Khalid Hossain, Chief Digital Officer, MTB; and Md Nasimul Islam, Director and Head of Government Engagement, South Asia, Visa. Professor Dr Hosne Ara Begum, Executive Director, TMSS, attended as guest of honour.
The initiative reflects MTB's continuous efforts to promote digital banking and financial inclusion, empowering students to experience the convenience and efficiency of cashless transactions from an early stage.
