Mercantile Bank celebrates 26th founding anniversary

Mercantile Bank PLC celebrated its 26th founding anniversary with a colourful event at its Head Office on Sunday. The ceremony was inaugurated by the bank's Chairman Md Anwarul Haque, who cut a commemorative cake as chief guest in the presence of board directors and senior executives.
Vice Chairmen Al-Haj Akram Hossain (Humayun) and Md Abdul Hannan, Executive Committee Chairman M A Khan Belal, Risk Management Committee Chairman Mohammad Abdul Awal, Director Al-Haj Mosharref Hossain, and Managing Director Mati Ul Hasan were also present on the occasion.
Deputy Managing Directors Md Zakir Hossain, Shamim Ahmed, Ashim Kumar Saha, and Dr Md Jahid Hossain; Chief Financial Officer Dr Tapash Chandra Paul; and Senior Executive Vice Presidents Shah Md Sohel Khurshid, Mohammad Iqbal Rezwan, and Md Abdul Halim, along with other senior officials, joined the celebrations.
All departments at the Head Office marked the anniversary with cake-cutting ceremonies in a festive atmosphere. Simultaneously, Mercantile Bank branches and sub-branches across the country also celebrated the occasion by cutting cakes and offering sweets and snacks to customers.
In his speech, Chairman Md Anwarul Haque highlighted the bank's consistent growth over the past 26 years. "The bank's performance across all variables reflects that Mercantile Bank has emerged as a sustainable, reliable, and customer-friendly institution," he said, adding that the bank would continue to offer technology-based services while upholding strong corporate governance.
Managing Director Mati Ul Hasan stated that the bank's top priority in the current fiscal year will be the recovery of classified loans. He added that the agriculture and SME sectors will receive special attention in the bank's new loan portfolio. He also announced plans to expand financial inclusion by opening more agent banking outlets and sub-branches nationwide. "Digital banking services will become smarter and more accessible through innovative new products in the days ahead," he added.
