Malaysia eyes 300,000 Bangladeshi tourists in 2026
Malaysia plans to attract 300,000 Bangladeshi tourists in 2026 under the "Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign launched by Tourism Malaysia this year.

In 2024, Malaysia recorded 25,016,698 international tourist arrivals and welcomed 143,919 Bangladeshi tourists. As targeted in 2025, the number is projected to grow to 31.3 million international tourist arrivals and RM125.5 billion in tourism receipts.
In the last twenty years, Bangladesh has seen the emergence of a new upper and middle class that regularly visits different countries.
In collaboration with the High Commission of Malaysia in Bangladesh and Tourism Malaysia, Renaissance Hotel in Dhaka is organising a Malaysian food festival titled "Cita Rasa Malaysia" at Bahar Restaurant from 17th to 26th April 2025.
He said the Malaysian High Commission would ease the visa process for genuine Bangladeshi Southeast Asian tourists.
He also said Malaysia will send a delegation to Bangladesh in June to explore the possibilities of setting up world-class hospitals in collaboration with the Bangladesh government or entrepreneurs.
Since the August revolution, India has restricted visas to Bangladeshi tourists and medical patients. The Bangladesh government has engaged with China to set up medical colleges. Meanwhile, sources said Malaysia has become a popular destination for Bangladeshi patients after India, Thailand, and Singapore.
