LGED holds fifth coordination meeting on climate-resilient infrastructure

The fifth meeting of the Central Coordination Committee (CCC) of the Climate Resilient Local Infrastructure Center (CRILIC), under the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED), was held on 13 May 2025 at LGED's head office in Agargaon.
CRILIC is being developed under the Climate Resilient Infrastructure Mainstreaming (CRIM) project, funded by the Green Climate Fund, the German Development Bank (KfW), and the Government of Bangladesh. The centre aims to support the integration of climate resilience into local infrastructure development across all stages—from project formulation and design to implementation and evaluation.
Chief Engineer of LGED Md Abdur Rashid Miah, who attended the meeting as Chief Guest, stated: "We all have a great dream regarding CRILIC. It will become a complete knowledge hub for LGED. Whatever is required to make CRILIC a Centre of Excellence, LGED will take the necessary steps."
During the session, the committee reviewed an update on CRILIC's activities and a report on the Climate Resilient Tools (CRT). A tentative date was also set for the upcoming Annual Adaptation Award. Participants shared insights and reaffirmed their support for CRILIC's development as a national centre of excellence.
Notable attendees included Md Anwar Hossain, Additional Chief Engineer and CRILIC Director from the Monitoring, Audit, Procurement, and ICT Unit; Additional Chief Engineer Md Golam Mostafa; Superintending Engineers Abul Bashed Mohammad Rezaul Bari, Md Akhtar Hossain, Md Belal Hossain, Syed Shafiqul Islam, Syeda Asma Khatun, and Abu Saleh Md Hanif.
Also present were CRIM Project Director Md Abdul Khaleq, CRILIC Executive Engineer Md Latif Hossain, Executive Engineer Mohammad Shafiullah, Senior Assistant Engineers Fatema Ismat Ara, Sadia Sharmin, Md Saddam Hossain, and Assistant Engineers Afifa Sultana Pritul and Arpon Pal. The meeting was also attended by Dan Boom, Team Leader of IDC-CRILIC, along with other consultants.
