Kathmandu University clinches BIAC international arbitration title

Kathmandu University, School of Law, Nepal, has been crowned champion of the 5th BIAC International Inter-University Arbitration Contest 2024, organised by the Bangladesh International Arbitration Centre (BIAC).
The final round was held virtually on 12 July, with London College of Legal Studies (South), Bangladesh, finishing as runner-up.
The competition, which featured eight leading universities from across Asia, offered law students practical exposure to international arbitration and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) through simulated commercial dispute proceedings.
Structured to mirror real-world arbitration, the contest allowed teams to present arguments as both Claimant and Respondent before a distinguished tribunal. Kathmandu University participated as the Respondent, while LCLS (South) represented the Claimant in the final round.
The final tribunal was chaired by Mr A F M Abdur Rahman J, a former Justice of the High Court Division of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh and Head of Chambers at Rahman Law Associates & Company.
