IUB professor included in Britishpedia’s Malaysia and Singapore volume
Professor Md Mamun Habib, Head of the Department of Management at the School of Business and Entrepreneurship, Independent University, Bangladesh, has been featured in the seventh edition of "Britishpedia – Successful People in Malaysia and Singapore", an international biographical reference published by British Publishing House Ltd.
The publication recognises professionals and academics whose work has made a significant impact in their respective fields. Habib's inclusion reflects his extensive contributions to research, teaching, industry consultancy and global engagement in supply chain management a discipline critical to both academic progress and industrial practice.
Habib has spent a substantial part of his academic career in Malaysia and Southeast Asia, where he taught, supervised PhD scholars, served as a PhD external ePhD examiner, conducted research, and collaborated with universities and industry His long-standing professional engagement with Malaysian institutions, along with ongoing research partnerships and joint publications with regional scholars, formed the basis for his inclusion in a volume highlighting successful personalities connected to Malaysia and Singapore.
With more than 23 years of academic and research experience in Bangladesh and abroad, Habib has published over 250 scholarly works, including journal articles, book chapters, and books. More than 80 of these works are indexed in Scopus and Web of Science. He has delivered keynote speeches at over 100 international conferences and conducted more than 250 webinars and workshops worldwide.
He completed his PhD and MSc in computer and engineering management at Assumption University, Thailand, with a research focus on supply chain management, achieving outstanding academic results. He also holds a BSc in electrical and electronic engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology.
Before joining Independent University, Bangladesh, Habib served as a faculty member at BRAC Business School and American International University-Bangladesh. He also held academic positions at Universiti Utara Malaysia and UNITAR International University, Malaysia. His international engagements include roles as a visiting scientist at the University of Texas at Arlington, United States, and as a visiting professor at institutions in Malaysia, the Philippines, China,and Indonesia.
Habib is actively involved in business school accreditation processes, particularly as an AACSB virtual ambassador and ACBSP evaluator.
Reacting to the recognition, Habib said the inclusion underscores the growing international visibility of Bangladeshi academics. "This acknowledgement encourages me to continue contributing to knowledge creation and professional practice in academia and industry across the globe," he said.
