Islami Bank sub-branch deposits reach Tk12,000 crore
Deposits of Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC's sub-branches have reached Tk12,000 crore, marking an increase of Tk3,700 crore within a year, the bank said at a conference in Dhaka on Saturday.
The bank's total deposits have now stood at Tk1,83,000 crore, while its total remittance collection reached Tk76,000 crore in 2025, maintaining Islami Bank's position as the top remittance-collecting bank for 18 consecutive years.
The bank's customer base has grown to three crore, with an addition of 50 lakh customers over the past year, reflecting growing public trust. Islami Bank currently operates the country's largest banking network, comprising 400 branches, 271 sub-branches, 2,788 agent outlets and 3,040 ATM and CRM booths.
The information was disclosed at the Sub-Branch Business Development Conference of Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC, held at Hotel InterContinental, Dhaka, on Saturday (January 17, 2026).
Md Omar Faruk Khan, managing director of Islami Bank, attended the conference as the chief guest. The programme was presided over by Engineer Md Jamal Uddin Mazumder, additional managing director. Md Altaf Hossain and Dr M Kamal Uddin Jasim, additional managing directors, spoke as special guests, while Deputy Managing Director Md Mahboob Alam delivered the welcome speech.
Deputy Managing Directors Md Rafiqul Islam and K M Munirul Alam Al-Mamoon were also present, along with senior executives from the head office and in-charges of the bank's 271 sub-branches.
Speaking at the conference, Managing Director Md Omar Faruk Khan said Islami Bank's contribution to the country's economic development remains significant. He noted that customer confidence in the banking sector has been restored following the July Revolution and said that despite various challenges in 2025, Islami Bank collected the highest volume of deposits in the sector.
He added that the bank also made a major contribution to strengthening foreign exchange reserves by mobilising the highest amount of remittances. "We are working towards building a strong, Shari'ah-compliant, technology-driven and modern Islami Bank that promotes a culture of compliance," he said.
He urged bank officials to ensure optimal use of technology in delivering banking services, guided by the slogan "Innovation and Digitisation Driving Transformation."
