Islami Bank reviews performance of Dhaka zones, corporate branches
Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC reviewed the half-yearly performance of its Dhaka Central and Dhaka East zones and six corporate branches in the capital, with senior officials calling for stronger customer service, good governance and digital banking.
The bank held its Half-Yearly Business Development Conference at Islami Bank Tower in Dhaka on Saturday and invited participants, according to a press release.
Mohammad Zahir Hussain, executive director of Bangladesh Bank assigned to serve as chairman of Islami Bank's board of directors, addressed the conference as chief guest.
He described branch managers as the bank's main driving force and commended their role in helping it overcome recent challenges.
Mohammad Zahir Hussain said Islami Bank's predecessors had contributed significantly to the country's economic development and called on employees to carry that legacy forward with dedication, integrity and professionalism.
He stressed the need to strengthen the confidence of all customer segments, particularly the younger generation, through advanced, modern and technology-driven digital banking services.
He also called for greater engagement with small and medium entrepreneurs, the introduction of timely Shariah-compliant and welfare-oriented products and services, and increased investment in agriculture.
Mohammad Zahir Hussain urged employees to work collectively to improve customer service, ensure good governance, transparency and accountability, increase deposits and quality investments, expand foreign trade and reduce non-performing investments.
Md Altaf Hossain, acting managing director of Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC, presided over the conference.
He said the bank had regained stability with the support of Bangladesh Bank and the dedicated efforts of its officers and employees.
Md Altaf Hossain called on the bank's employees and people from all walks of life to promote Bangla QR and help build a cashless Bangladesh.
He expressed hope that growing customer confidence and employees' collective efforts would help Islami Bank re-establish its leading position across key business indicators in the country's banking sector.
The conference reviewed the half-yearly business activities of the Dhaka Central and Dhaka East zones, as well as six corporate branches in Dhaka.
Participants also discussed strategies to meet the bank's 2026 business targets, increase deposits and investments, improve customer service, and make business operations more dynamic.
Mohammad Jamal Uddin Mazumder and Dr M Kamal Uddin Jasim, additional managing directors; and Md Mahboob Alam, Mahmudur Rahman, Md Rafiqul Islam and Md Maksudur Rahman, deputy managing directors, attended the conference.
Md Mahbub-A-Alam, head of Dhaka Central Zone; Muhammad Solaiman, head of Dhaka East Zone; the heads of the six corporate branches; and other bank executives and officials were also present.
