ISD students organise annual community iftar under IB CAS initiative
The student-led iftar programme returned to International School Dhaka (ISD), as the school hosted its annual initiative on 26 February 2026, from 4:30pm to 7:30pm on its campus.
As part of its mission to develop responsible global citizens, ISD stated that it empowered students to plan the programme and create a meaningful experience for children from partner organisations, including Solmaid, Families for Children (FFC), JAAGO Foundation, International Humanity Foundation (IHF), Love Education Food (LEF), United for Change, Artemis (School of Life Foundation), Diamonds in the Rough (Bancat Foundation), and Rise and Shine (Abinta Kabir Foundation). Approximately 150 children attended the event, the school stated.
With support from teachers and staff, the programme was organised under the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme's Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS) initiative and the Middle Years Programme's Community Engagement framework.
The event began with a reception and activities, followed by interactive games, art sessions, and light sports facilitated by Grade 8 and Diploma Programme student volunteers. Participants later gathered in the cafeteria to break their fast together and offer Maghrib prayers, before receiving gifts including food items, books, and sports equipment.
ISD stated that the initiative aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals 2 (zero hunger), 4 (quality education), 8 (decent work and economic growth), and 17 (partnerships for the goals). Through fundraising and donations, students contributed to providing meals as well as educational and recreational materials for the visiting children.
The event concluded with a formal handover of gifts to representatives of the participating organisations.
