International Standard University holds freshers’ reception

The International Standard University (ISU) warmly welcomed its newest students at the Freshers' Reception for Spring 2025, held on 26 June at its Mohakhali campus. The event was chaired by ISU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Abdul Awal Khan, with Engineer A. K. M. Mosharraf Hussain, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, gracing the occasion as Chief Guest. Hasnat Mosharraf, Member Secretary of the Board of Trustees, joined as Guest of Honour.
Professor Dr Abdul Awal Khan reminded the freshers that student life is a sacred time, a foundation upon which the future is built. He urged students to devote themselves earnestly to their studies, for it is through knowledge and diligence that one forges a successful career. Highlighting ISU's commitment to an international-standard curriculum, he called upon both teachers and students to unite in purpose, steering the university toward becoming one of Bangladesh's leading institutions.
The Vice Chancellor also praised ISU's initiatives to sharpen students' English proficiency and emphasised the university's dedication to fostering a student-friendly environment. With modern classrooms, well-equipped laboratories, qualified faculty, and a rich blend of theoretical, practical, and co-curricular activities, ISU stands poised to nurture well-rounded graduates. Part-time job opportunities and post-graduation placements further demonstrate the university's commitment to student success.
Addressing the students, Hasnat Mosharraf urged them to carve a unique identity in an increasingly competitive world. "Set yourself apart—that is the essence of relevance," he said. He reminded the young minds that true success demands humility, leadership, and an unquenchable thirst for learning. "Measure your progress against your past self; that is genuine achievement. Strive to learn, not to judge."
The reception was further honoured by the presence of Faheem Mosharraf, Member of the Board of Trustees; Professor H.T.M. Quader Newaz, Treasurer; Professor Dr Monjur Morshed Mahmud, Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies; and Professor Md Abul Kashem, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology.
The ceremony was eloquently opened by Professor Mohammad Ali, Convener of the Organizing Committee, and beautifully anchored by Mrs Mayesha Afia Jarin, Lecturer, Department of Law, and Mrs Nafisa Tabassum, Lecturer, Department of English. The gathering was completed by department heads, faculty members, students, and administrative officers.
The event concluded on a high note with a vibrant cultural programme, thoughtfully organised by the students, celebrating the dawn of new beginnings at ISU.
