INSEE Cement and Practical Action sign MOU

INSEE Cement (Siam City Cement Bangladesh Limited) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Practical Action to collaborate on impactful sustainability initiatives in Bangladesh.
The MoU was signed by Mr Mahmud Hasan, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of INSEE Cement Bangladesh, and Ms Ishrat Shabnam, Country Director of Practical Action Bangladesh. The signing ceremony was attended by senior officials from both organisations, alongside key stakeholders involved in the projects.
Practical Action, an international NGO, is committed to developing sustainable solutions for poverty alleviation and climate resilience. By focusing on technology, innovation, and community-driven approaches, the organisation helps vulnerable populations adapt to environmental challenges. Practical Action's work supports long-term sustainability by promoting clean energy, resilient agriculture, and disaster risk reduction.
INSEE Cement, as part of Siam City Cement PLC's Sustainability Ambition 2030, is focused on reducing CO₂ emissions through low-carbon cement, alternative fuels, and renewable energy use. The company aims to strengthen its position as a leader in sustainable business practices and environmental responsibility.
The partnership with Practical Action will enhance INSEE Cement's sustainability efforts by leveraging the NGO's expertise in community engagement, policy advocacy, and technical innovation. Together, they will explore opportunities in the carbon market, integrate resource-efficient technologies, and promote the responsible use of energy and raw materials, all of which align with Bangladesh's national climate action agenda and global sustainability goals.
This collaboration supports INSEE Cement's Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) objectives by delivering climate-smart solutions for local communities. Practical Action will also facilitate connections with global experts and resources to maximise the long-term impact and visibility of the joint initiatives.
