IFPRI , SAARC agriculture centre ink mou to boost regional farm research
IFPRI and the SAARC Agriculture Centre (SAC) signed an MoU in New York to boost collaboration in agricultural research, nutrition, extension, and policy development.
Ambassador Md Golam Sarwar, Secretary-General of SAARC, attended the ceremony as the guest of honour, while Dr. Johan Swinnen, Director-General of IFPRI, joined as a special guest.
Other distinguished attendees included senior directors and representatives from SAC and IFPRI offices in Dhaka, New Delhi, and Washington.
Speaking at the event, Ambassador Golam Sarwar stated that the MoU would strengthen collaborative efforts and play a vital role in advancing technology development and dissemination in the agriculture and allied sectors.
Dr Swinnen noted that the partnership would further cooperation in knowledge management, agricultural trade, policy innovation and capacity building, positioning the region to effectively address critical challenges in agriculture and nutrition.
The ceremony concluded with both organizations jointly reaffirming their dedication to collaborative initiatives aimed at achieving food security, resilience, and prosperity across South Asia.
