IFIC Bank awards winners of ‘Eco Solve’ essay competition

IFIC Bank has honoured the winners of its 'Eco Solve' essay competition, a unique initiative aimed at encouraging innovative and sustainable solutions to environmental challenges among the youth. The competition sought to raise awareness among students nationwide about local environmental issues and inspire them to propose practical solutions.
Held under the theme "Your Environment, Your Responsibility," the competition was open to students from universities, colleges, schools, and madrasas across Bangladesh. Out of more than 3,000 submissions, 12 essays were selected for their insightful identification of local environmental challenges and the creative, sustainable solutions they proposed.
The award ceremony took place on Saturday, 26 April 2025, at the IFIC Tower in Purana Paltan, Dhaka. Md Mehmood Husain, Chairman of IFIC Bank, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, presenting the winners with crests, certificates, and honorary cheques across three categories. In his speech, Mr. Husain emphasised the importance of responsible natural resource use in building a sustainable future and noted that while the competition may seem small, its long-lasting impact is significant.
In his welcome address, Syed Mansur Mustafa, Managing Director of IFIC Bank, congratulated all participants, acknowledging them as winners. He highlighted that environmental protection is both a personal and collective responsibility that requires collective action.
The event was further enhanced by a comprehensive overview of the Eco Solve competition, presented by Ms. Fariha Haider, Head of Centralized Retail Marketing at IFIC Bank.
The ceremony was attended by Mr. Kazi Md. Mahboob Kasem and Mr. Md. Golam Mostofa, members of the Board of Directors at IFIC Bank. The esteemed judging panel included Mr. Khairul Islam, Regional Head of WaterAid; Dr. Mohammad Nazmuzzaman Bhuian, Professor of Law at the University of Dhaka; Dr. Syed Mahbubur Rahman, Professor at BRAC Business School; and Mr. Biplob Kumar Dev, Assistant Professor at Notre Dame College. Senior officials and Deputy Managing Directors of IFIC Bank were also present at the event.
