IFIC Bank appoints Sheikh Akhter Uddin Ahmed as new DMD
Mr Sheikh Akhter Uddin Ahmed has joined IFIC Bank PLC as Deputy Managing Director (DMD), effective 25 November 2025.
With a distinguished banking career spanning 27 years in both domestic and international institutions, he brings extensive leadership experience and strategic insight to the organisation.
Mr Ahmed began his career in 1998 as a Probationary Officer at National Bank PLC, where he developed expertise in general banking, credit management, foreign exchange and remittance operations. Over time, he rose through various leadership roles at both branch and head office levels, demonstrating consistent operational excellence and a strong strategic focus.
He also served more than a decade overseas as Chief Executive Officer, where he successfully managed nationwide operations, expanded branch networks and forged strategic international partnerships. On returning to Bangladesh, he held senior leadership positions, including Deputy Managing Director and Managing Director (Current Charge) at National Bank PLC.
Mr Ahmed is recognised for his integrity, pragmatic decision-making and commitment to building high-performing teams. With his proven track record, he is expected to play a pivotal role in advancing IFIC Bank's strategic growth, recovery initiatives, risk management and service excellence.
His appointment reflects IFIC Bank's continued focus on strengthening governance and reinforcing customer trust within Bangladesh's financial sector.
