Hamdard extends humanitarian support to the people of Gaza

Gaza is currently enduring one of the most severe humanitarian catastrophes in the world. Continuous Israeli airstrikes have levelled neighbourhoods, leaving behind a trail of destruction. No one has been spared from children and women to doctors, journalists, and human rights defenders. The city has turned into a graveyard, with the civilian death toll rising every day.

In response to this crisis, Hamdard Laboratories (Waqf) Bangladesh has taken a historic step by extending humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza. Acting on the call of Dr Hakim Md Yousuf Harun Bhuiyan, Chief Motawalli and Managing Director of Hamdard Bangladesh, the organisation's Executive Committee unanimously resolved—at a meeting held on 26 April 2025—to mobilise support for Gaza's war-stricken population.

As part of the initiative, all Hamdard officials and employees will contribute a portion of their monthly salaries to the cause. In addition, a share of the proceeds from the sale of the widely popular Sharbat Rooh Afza will be allocated for humanitarian relief.

The financial aid will be directed towards emergency medical care, food, shelter, and other essential needs for the affected people in Gaza. This gesture goes beyond mere financial assistance—it is a moral stance, a collective voice raised in defence of human dignity.

Hamdard's leadership and staff have united in solidarity to deliver this message to the world: this is not just an act of charity—it is a solemn commitment to justice and a reminder that in times of grave suffering, silence is not an option. This initiative stands as a lasting symbol of humanitarian unity and compassion for the people of Gaza.
