Guardian Life settles loan claims for two FIVDB borrowers

Guardian Life Insurance Limited and Friends in Village Development Bangladesh (FIVDB) jointly organised an event to disburse insurance claim payments under a group life insurance facility for FIVDB borrowers.

Under the agreement, FIVDB loan recipients are automatically covered by life insurance. In the event of a borrower's death before their loan is fully repaid, Guardian Life assumes responsibility for the outstanding liability.

Recently, two FIVDB borrowers—Anjuye Nayek and Jafura Begum—took loans of Tk70,000 and Tk60,000 respectively. Before the loans could be repaid, Anjuye Nayek passed away on 6 February 2026 due to complications from high fever, while Jafura Begum died on 8 February 2026 after suffering a heart condition.

Guardian Life and FIVDB jointly hosted an event at the FIVDB headquarters in Kollagram, Khadimnagar, Sylhet on 1 April 2026, where Guardian Life settled the full outstanding amounts of the respective loans in the presence of the bereaved families.

Representing Guardian Life Insurance Limited at the event were Fasihul Mostafa, senior vice president and head of product and EPMO; Naoshadul Karim Chowdhury, vice president, micro, digital channel and ADC; Rafayet Siddiqdar Rajat, vice president, marketing and communications; Ditipriya Roy Chowdhury, senior assistant vice president, marketing and communications; and Asif Bin Mujib, senior assistant vice president, micro, digital channel and ADC, among other senior officials.

Representing FIVDB were Emad Ullah Shahidul Islam, board member; Syed Ishtiaq Ahmed, board member; and Bazle Mostafa Razi, executive director, along with other senior officials.

Speaking at the event, Guardian Life Senior Assistant Vice President Ditipriya Roy Chowdhury said: "Every insurance policy is highly valuable to us. What the family has lost can never be replaced. However, in line with our commitment, we have delivered the claim payment due to them in the shortest possible time. Guardian Life remains committed to providing such protection in the future."

FIVDB Executive Director Bazle Mostafa Razi said: "This partnership with Guardian Life plays a vital role in safeguarding our members' financial security. Such initiatives serve as a crucial safety net for members and their families in unforeseen circumstances."

This joint initiative by Guardian Life Insurance Limited and FIVDB shows that proper insurance protection can provide crucial financial support to a family in times of crisis. Both organisations also expressed their commitment to continuing to work together to ensure greater financial security and protection for marginalised communities across the country.
