Graffiti unveiled on padma bridge to honour july uprising martyrs

Lieutenant General Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd), Adviser to the Ministry of Home Affairs, inaugurated the July Bravery and July Sacrifice graffiti artworks at the Mawa and Jajira ends of the Padma Bridge, commemorating the martyrs of the July student uprising and highlighting their enduring inspiration for the nation.
Md Fahimul Islam, Secretary of the Ministry of Railways, attended as a special guest. Other attendees included the Secretary of the Bridge Division, deputy commissioners and superintendents of police from Munshiganj and Shariatpur, officials from the Bridge Division and Bangladesh Bridge Authority, Padma Bridge staff, and media representatives.
During the ceremony, the adviser honoured those who gave their lives for the nation's freedom. He offered prayers for the martyrs and expressed support for their families and the injured.
Displayed on mural squares at both bridge ends, the graffiti represent the heroism and sacrifice of the July Revolution, reinforcing the enduring impact of the uprising. They were created under the direction of the ministry, with gratitude to the supporting officials and artists.
"The July uprising was a struggle for truth and justice," said Jahangir Alam Chowdhury. "Led by students, it united aspirations and gave the nation direction. Such initiatives inspire youth to uphold truth, justice, freedom, and democracy."
He added, "It is our duty to honour their sacrifice and uphold their ideals. Through our united commitment, we can build a Bangladesh founded on justice, equality, and humanity—a nation where the spirit of the July uprising lives on, inspiring future generations."
